The Case for Globalizing Employee Benefits

Workplace globalization — defined as the movement towards economic, financial, trade and communications integration across borders — was a nascent trend for companies just a decade ago. Today, workplace globalization is a given for most large corporations that want to sell products and services outside of their country’s borders.

In fact, for the 35 largest U.S.-based multinational corporations that disclose employment by geography:

  • Nearly 3/4ths of the jobs added between 2010 and 2012 were overseas.
  • Between 2009 and 2011, close to 60% of the revenue growth for these companies came from non-U.S. activities.

At Grand Rounds, we recognize that doing business today for many U.S. companies means doing business abroad. We believe that access to medical expertise should transcend geographic borders, and that certain health benefits (where possible) should be available for all.

With Grand Rounds Outcomes Management, all of your employees and their families have access to world-class medical expertise and end-to-end care support. And with the Grand Rounds Virtual Clinic and mobile application, patients can access us anytime, anywhere in the U.S. and abroad. To date, Grand Rounds has helped patients on 6 continents.

Our patient care model involves a full Grand Rounds team supporting every patient. The team that interacts directly with each patient includes:

  1. Staff Physicians — doctors trained at leading medical institutions (e.g. Stanford, Columbia, Dartmouth) and handpicked for their broad-based excellence in medicine and for their empathy with patients.
  2. Care Coordinators — responsive, knowledgeable, and customer service-oriented individuals who will act as the day-to-day contact for the patient. This team recently received an American Business Award for excellence in customer service.

We are especially proud of our Care Coordinator team. It’s largely due to their efforts on behalf of our patients that Grand Rounds enjoys user satisfaction scores that rival Apple and Coca-Cola. Today we highlight a couple of our multi-lingual team members.

Meet Percy

Originally from Lima, Peru, Percy brings with him over 10 years of customer service experience. Before joining Grand Rounds, he worked at several technology companies in Silicon Valley as a Technical Support Agent. Prior to that, he worked for Decoro 360, as manager of Customer Service, and then as Regional Operations Manager. Percy speaks 3 languages — English, Spanish, and Russian. When he’s not at Grand Rounds, Percy loves to play soccer and spend time with his wife and son.

Meet Marcela

Marcela came to Grand Rounds with over ten years of experience in the hospitality industry. Through her prior experiences, she’s had the opportunity to interact with a diverse set of clients from her time in the food/catering industry. She enjoys being able to help patients achieve better health outcomes. And to do so in Spanish, her native language. Marcela was born in Colombia and considers herself a major foodie.

Grand Rounds currently makes its services available in 117 countries and covers more than 40 languages. We are always looking to grow our amazing team of passionate, multi-lingual Care Coordinators. Let us know if you are interested in joining our team!
