The Dotty Home

Another rumour coming out today is that Google will launch a second version of the Home in the fall with a smaller form factor. This makes sense from a few angles:
- To gain market share, Google must have a lower cost, more easily accessible device. The Home today cannot rival the price of an Echo Dot.
- Similar to price, the size of the device makes it less likely to be in every room. Smaller device can be put everywhere.
- Google should have multiple (non-phone / tablet) devices running Google Assistant so it can have more internal experience building and releasing embedded Google Assistant devices to be able to help third parties do it on their devices.
A smaller Home could only be a good thing, as long as, similar to the Dot, it retains its interaction.
