The Heating Up of Competition

The competition for voice services is heating up on at least two fronts this week: Bixby and Walmart. It seems like there are renewed rumours for a Bixby speaker. Not only that, but that Samsung will open up Bixby to third party devices similar to Alexa Voice Service. If Samsung allowed for customization of the interaction, it could be a boon for Bixby.

Related to Walmart, it’s that Google announced a partnership with Walmart for ordering of products through the Google Home.

Perhaps the latter will bring Google and Walmart closer together. Could the two together form a formidable alliance strong enough to slow down the train that is Amazon?

In analytics alone, the two could be able to predict when and how we buy and to link online and brick and mortar retail. Eventually, maybe they could be tight enough for a merger.
