Just two days after we waved goodbye to Tall Ships, we were in for another treat.

Maritime Greenwich was commemorating 20th anniversary of becoming UNESCO World Heritage Site by bathing its five landmarks in colourful light. It was the first time they were illuminated in unison and there was NO WAY I would miss that!

Having lived in Greenwich for many years now, I still don’t take its beautiful historic buildings for granted. But I was looking forward to seeing them in a different light (literally).

When it started getting dark, I first went up to the Observatory. Standing next to James Wolfe statue, I was taking in an unforgettable panoramic view of Maritime Greenwich covered in blue light. I felt like such a fool with my iPhone being surrounded by hi-tech cameras (what was I thinking?!)

I then walked to Cutty Sark and Old Royal Naval College admiring them up-close. They looked so monumental and grand! It was surprisingly quiet as people were taking photos in silence, simply cherishing the experience…

Taking my own photos turned out to be a total disaster but (thank God) you can always count on others to share “proper” photos on social media so here are…
