The Christmas Full Moon.

Christmas Full Moon 2015 Shot with Nikon D900

The full moon tonight is the first one on Christmas Day since 1977.Since I was born that year, I can tell you without even using a calculator that it was 38 years ago. After a massive Christmas dinner calorie intake for the last couple of days, my family piled in the car to drive through Saint John neighbourhoods and enjoy the Christmas lights. But nothing compared to the brilliant blood-red moon that slowly rose over the Saint John cityscape casting it’s bright reflection over the St. John River.

An attempt to capture the moon with the iPhone 6+

I tried to take a photo with my iPhone 6+, but we all know that iPhones will only disappoint when trying to capture things like mountain vistas and/or anything in space! So I called my friend David Alston who has the Nikon P900 that sports a lens with an 83X optical zoom! WOW! That’s equivalent to 2000mm lens, all jam packed in a compact, DSLR body.

I am always in awe of the masterpiece of nature and the universe. It’s pretty cool that a combination of glass and circuitboards allow us to be able to look far deeper into this artwork then our natural eye ever could.
