Thanks for the response, Frances. This poem isn’t completely autobiographical so I haven’t closed myself off nor become jaded… yet. :)

I was hoping that its tone would both illustrate the despair, speak to people who have experienced similar as well as, through inference, raise what you mention in terms of not closing off options. It’s funny how hope and despair play off of each other.
