Thus happened in tbw case of Argentina. President Kirchener renounced the countries IMF debt because the austerity was creating misery for the public. A few years after the debt was ignored, thw economy recovered with unprecedented growth. But of course Kirchner was considered the enemy of the US and the right wing elite who profited from the austerity.
