First of all, anyone who includes the words “code” (as in software) and “working flawlessly” in a sentence the way you did should not be taken seriously. That combination has never happened in the history of computing. (If it ever did happen, I would seriously worry about our planet spontaneously combusting, eradicating the entire human race)
I was trained as a programmer by the USAF in the early 70’s, I’ve been in IT for 34 of the last 45 years, (I took an 11 year break to be a chef. Go ahead and laugh. I eat very, very well) including the last 30+ years in a row, and your argument makes no sense. It would be impossible for me to tally the total number of times I/we had to resort to 3rd-party software because the “people who built the infrastructure” were unable to offer functional, reliable, cost-effective solutions to real-world computing problems.
Does that mean I’m in favor of CEP’s approach? Fuck no. Any prediction I can make based on the of the motives at the heart of CEP have to be based on historical data (who they are, what they espoused) I find extremely uncomfortable to consider.
However, that does not make your stated opinion any less naive.
