I have observed the deterioration of decorum in the interaction of individuals for 40 years, and a lot of it has to do with political and legal leadership schooling people in their “civil rights”. The problem is there is a classy way to to it and a crude way to do it, and the deterioration[read dumbing down] of the educational system has pushed us toward the lower end of the spectrum while our leadership has encouraged the downtrodden minorities to be assertive if not aggressive in demanding their rights. That is all well and good, but when the other guy is holding a gun drawn or not, it’s time to follow instructions, keep your hands visible, and not be the least bit antagonistic; even if the 1st Amendment says it’s OK and do not get physical! Unfortunately, most people go one of two directions, too helpful, or too in your face, both wrong. Take your queue from the One in charge, like it or not. Standard practice complements of the Al Sharpton’s of the world is for minorities to be a Jerk off and get in everyone’s face or do it your way like him, which will get you in trouble by NOT LISTENING….look at the tapes on You Tube and tell me I am wrong, it’s the ‘no listen’ crowd. That is not demeaning it is observation, zero impulse control, prisons are full of them. Take a Leadership course sometime, anytime people have any kind of ‘legitimate power’ a certain percentage will abuse it, not to the extent of shooting someone, but when people are not following your lead, intentionally antagonizing you, the trigger mechanism for setting off alarm bells is starting to ring, and self preservation will mix with training for a good or bad result depending how everyone involved reacts.
