Product Designers: Artists of the Intangible

Thanks for the great analogy Chrys,

As a PM myself I often feel like I have the empathy, that is, my instinct tells me whether, for example, rearranging some UI elements will improve UX or not. But oftentimes I find it difficult to explain the intuition which left my colleagues unconvinced. And I often felt I needed a more structured framework, be it a HCI theory or etc, to support my case. Of course I’m aware you’re not suggesting here that one can solely rely on intuition — my point is that design instinct or empathy is to be supported by something more formalised and structured, unless your colleagues are ‘hearing’ the same tones and are on the same wavelength (which is a bit rare in my short experience..?)
