The Secret to Overnight Success!

Ever heard that the journey to success begins with a successful mindset? Maybe you’re skeptical? I was, but everything started to make sense to me a few months ago. I want to share with you what I’ve learned about having a successful mindset.

I’ve read it in books and magazines, seen it in YouTube videos, and heard my friends talk about how success begins with a successful mindset. Ok, but what does that mean? Personally, it means realizing that YOU have control over your own future. Have you ever noticed that small insignificant choices made years ago have played out for you today? For example, going out to a new bar instead of your usual spot led you to meet your significant other. There are lots of examples out there of chance occurrences. How does this happen? Small choices. Be aware of every actions and choices you make to consciously do things that bring you towards your success.

Imagine you make the choice to learn a new skill every evening instead of spending time watching T.V or on social media. If you work on that skill for a mere 30 minutes everyday, by the end of the year you’ll have spent 180 hours working on that skill. It doesn’t sound like much, but that’s a significant amount of practice time. If you keep doing that year after year imagine how good you’ll be at that skill. Small choices lead to big results.

Small choices repeat over and over again, year in and year out are called habits. Plain and simple: successful people have successful habits. There is nothing else to it. They’re not special in any other way than their habits. Develop successful habits and you’ll be successful.

At this point, you’re probably asking yourself: “what does this have to do with mindset?” Well, a successful mindset is what allows you to remain motivated to continue pursuing your successful habits.

Do us both a favor, put the idea of overnight success out of your head. It doesn’t exist. The premise of overnight successes indicates luck, impatience, and opportunity. What you don’t hear about the people featured in these stories is that they usually worked for years on that skill, business, or whatever it is. Even when times were tough these individuals refused to give up. Eventually, they reached a tipping point and started gaining momentum they “came out of nowhere”. The point here is that you probably won’t achieve your goals even in 1 or 3 years, it may take 5 or 10 years before things come together. So you need a successful mindset to keep you focused on maintaining your successful habits. This will ultimately lead you towards success.
