Learning to Meditate — Day 2

I was looking forward to Day 2 of Headspace’s meditation class, but when I realised I would be doing exactly the same as yesterday I struggled to get focused and I wanted Andy to get on with it.

When meditating they advise y ou to sit in an upright chair but I find it more comfortable sitting on the sofa with my legs up. Not sure if this is right or wrong but it works for me.

I also like it because the picture above is the view I get from my sofa and I find it very calming, the picture doesn’t do it justice.

Yesterday when I meditated I did it when I was extremely stressed and it really helped. Today, I decided to do it during my son’s naptime; they recommend you meditate at the same time every day so it becomes part of your routine.

I am self employed and currently work during my son’s nap times and evenings. At first I thought it would be beneficial to do it at the end of my son’s nap as I tend to get stressed if I’ve still got lots to do but time is running out.

But what if he wakes early? Trying to meditate with a child calling your name isn’t the best situation.

I was starting to feel tired after an hour or so of work so I decided to do my 10 minutes meditation now to give myself a break.

Perhaps cause I was limited on time it made me want Andy to rush through things; but before I knew it the session was over.

Andy asked ‘How are you feeling?’ Weirdly I had butterflies, I have no idea why but it was definitely excitement I was feeling rather than anxiety but the feeling soon dispersed.

After giving myself some time to reflect I got back to work; I felt more focused and got through my tasks quickly. So all in all, another good session.

There’s a new animation video to watch tomorrow so I’m excited to learn something new along with what I’ve already learnt.
