My First Experience of Meditating
I’m not going to lie, I never thought I’d ever try Meditation, mainly because I thought I’d feel a wally doing it. However, today was a particular stressful day and I was starting to have ‘failure’ feelings. I wanted to turn that around, but rather than being productive I just felt overwhelmed and ended up jumping from one task to another not completing anything.
Whilst growing the campaign I came across an app called Headspace. Headspace is meditation made simple, when you want, wherever you are, in just 10 minutes a day.
I decided to take advantage of there 10 day trial, 10 minutes mediation each day over 10 days. What did I have to lose?
There Introduction animation is very engaging and makes you want to get started straight away.
Andy, my personal meditation and mindfulness expert aka the voice-over for all things Headspace has a very calming voice and offers easy guidance on creating a relaxing space to practise my 10 minutes mediation.
Once I had created my calm place I was asked to scan my body and acknowledge what I was feeling. To my surprise I had a massive tension headache and my forehead started to throb.
As time passed I could feel my body starting to relax and my heart rate started to come down.
So what are my first impressions? Yep, very good, Andy managed to bring be back to earth and make me feel grounded again, meaning I could turn the rest of my day into a positive one.
