Making Macro vs Micro Decisions

The types of truth behind macro and micro decisions are very different.

Typically, the more macro a decision, the more murky the data.

For example, if you’re trying to figure out what the U.S. trade policy should be with China, it’s unlikely you’ll find definitive data to give you 100% confidence your decision is correct. Instead, you’ll have murky information that you’ll have to piece together with your intuition and judgement. In product, this is where the biggest opportunities are born.

It’s a different story for micro decisions. If you’re trying to decide if a button on a website needs to be blue or green, you can just run an A/B test and get the statistically significant answer.
