A Glance, for Floral Designers

East meets West; past meets future; art meets technique in this mobile site.

Floral designers have to keep up. They are overwhelmed with information. There are new design trends; there are new techniques; there are new materials. There are conferences; there are exhibitions. There are blogs; there are social media sites. There are needs to connect with fellow designers, locally and globally.

Right now they have to find and filter by themselves. Floral Designers Glance will do it for them.

A glance at the Glance

The site has workshops and lectures, both past and upcoming. For a past event, a site visitor can see its synopsis, and most of the times, its YouTube video or photo gallery. The site visitor can then join the forum and discuss that past event with fellow floral designers. For an upcoming event, the site visitor will have an option to register.

Floral Designers Glance has a place for artists and floral design schools, with content crossing the culture and geography lines. Gregor Lersch of Germany is found side by side with Akane Teshigahara of Japan.

Emerging design trends such as Armature promoted by Occasion! is listed on the same Design Schools page as centuries old Ikebono of Ikebana.

Site evolution

Search is key

Given the rich content of the site, search is key. Search has evolved:

From searching everything:

To searching everywhere:

Search is now on every page of the site, even on the Forum page.

Simple is beautiful!

Simplicity is the corner stone of Floral Designers Glance graphics design. Japanese floral art is known throughout the world for its elegant simplicity. Elegant simplicity is not unknown to the West either; there’s a French saying: “la simplicité fait la beauté.”

Simple doesn’t mean simplistic though. In the final iteration, visually appealing teasers are added to the Home page, per user testing feedback.

Floral Designers now have everything at their fingertips.
