Jason see my review of John McCains book 13 Soldiers on The Spyglass. McCain writes about one soldier from each war and the problems with the government and people to make good on promises made. For example the WWI vets did arrive to ticker tape parades but later they would be attacked in Washington DC by Army troops led by Gen Douglas McArthur.

Back to the revolution the U.S. has done a poor job of caring for its veterans.
