If you throw some crusts of bread onto the ground in an open space, it is common knowledge any birds nearby will flock to the scraps of bread to get to the food first (scenario 1). For the birds, the bread is sustenance, therefore it is unsurprising to see a number of them descend and snatch up the bread quickly. Blink and the bread is gone.
