There are few things worse than having your accounts hacked.

You may think, oh it will never happen to me.

In reality, it probably has.

You can check here and it will inform you what hacks caused your information breech, and the types of information taken.

A conducted survey found that over 80% of firms were hacked. And Microsoft recently experienced a large Cyber-Attack password hack.

When companies get hacked and the passwords taken, those passwords are shared on the Dark Web, where they can access your accounts that use them and gather personal information about you that you have in the accounts.

Some of the information is credit cards, bank account access, addresses, date of birth, sensitive account numbers, and personal identification information, all of it is at risk.

This is one reason why it’s important to have unique passwords for every site, though not even unique passwords are not enough to fully protect you in this day and age.

All the above information is scary, but don’t worry.

There is 1 simple method to help keep your accounts secure.

Turn on Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)/Two-Factor Authentication for all accounts that allow it.

You can use an app such as Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator to link your accounts to which generate a 6 digit code for you to enter after your password.

Or set up your cell phone number to receive a text with a code to enter.

This way, when someone leaks your password into the dark web, it will be more challenging for them to successfully log into your account.

This is good practice to turn on for all your accounts.

The few extra seconds it takes to enter a code or approve a message can save your life.
