All of the major flaws with Turnitin
As a ninth grader who graduated from middle school with only seventeen other students in my class, I have never once been asked to use Turnitin. There was a reason—because our teachers respected and trusted us. They treated us with dignity and respect, therefore not requiring that we use any “anti-plagiarism” services.
Now, I’ve hit high school, and things have changed a little bit. Now, with more than 120 students in my class, the whole student-teacher relationship has shifted for the worse. Therefore, that is why I will always promote smaller classrooms.
Last week was the first time I have been asked to use Turnitin. My science teacher had told my class that she plans on having us submit our upcoming lab report to Turnitin.
Now, look, I am not a cheater. Cheating is something that I believe is morally wrong, and it is something I would never think of doing — especially on such an important assignment. I absolutely detest it because it completely undermines those who worked so hard to get a good grade.
I am a writer for God’s sake! Writing anything is no problem for me, so why would I cheat in the first place? Plagiarism is the antithisis to everything I have worked for, on Medium, on We The People, and as a student. There is no possible way I would ever think of it!
