HTK Motivational Chronicles… I
“Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves.
Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”
― Bruce Lee
Be like water… in most cases big corporations are always in a state of flux. I believe this is the single most important aspect of a company, as this state radiates a particular brand of conciousness.
In many cases a successful idea upon which a company is built is replicated in such a way that allows for many people to take part in the long assembly line and reproduce the results that were originally obtained. Sometimes for better, sometimes for worse…
This very idea, that this company is based upon, then undergoes a natural evolution through games of Chinese whispers, and time. If you then add the billions of differences between each human being that exists on this planet, this idea evolves, many magnitudes of time into a beautiful fractal, many reflections of the original idea coming to fruition to become reality.
Today we talk about change! I want you to picture the changes that are undergoing in your company. what is your company doing to make itself number one? What is your department doing to mirror this idea and get with the program? Last but not least, what is going on within you???
People often forget that companies are build on people, and they are the most important ingredient of the recipe.
Today I want you to try something new, try change. There might be something that you do day to day, something that reflects who you are or your character deep inside of yourself. It might be your haircut, or maybe it’s that chequered suit that you wear every Thursday to work. It might be the same pack lunch that you eat day in day out. It might even be the same seat on the bus, the same way to work, the same coffee break, the same café, the same people… I want you to do something new right now!!!
But don’t just do something new because you’re being told to, do not do something new unless you fully understand that it is in the many diverging ways that we choose to do a simple task, this one menial task that we do each day in, day out, that we find the true definition of an idea. It is in this moment of clarity where we witness the formulation of something simply just waiting to come out and turn from idea into reality.
Live life; experience it, make it happen and then make it!
