Get a preview of HackTM 2016

14 days till HackTM and we’re preparing for you a few previews of the event so you can grow some ideas and blend them with the ones you hear there. Together with our category partners, we are getting ready pre-event meetups. Here, you can learn more about what projects are included in the category and you can get ideas if you didn’t have one yet.


#GameDev meetup

Game always had a special in the hearts of software developers. Being on the developer side of the game is every bit as exciting as playing it. So choose your weapon: desktop, mobile, web based, you name it!

This pre-event will be taking place on Friday, 6th of May, 7.00 pm. If you are interested, you can also check the Facebook event.

Razvan Pat and Alex Popescu, from iSoftBet, will talk about HackTM’s previous editions and will share with you what they plan to bring as sponsors of this category this year at HackTM 2016.

Vladut Vatafu, a 14 year old student, a CoderDojo Timișoara ninja and game development enthusiast, will present the game Coama’s Quest for Cola, a tribute to Alex Iatan one of his prefered mentors :).


#IoT meetup

The Internet of Things is a computing concept that describes a future where everyday physical objects will be connected to the Internet and be able to identify themselves to other devices. The term is closely identified with wireless technologies, M2M communications, telematics, sensors networks, QR codes and RFIDs.

Claudiu Suma and Calin Crisan, from Safefleet, will bring to discussion a few hot topics for this category, like affordable IoT wide area networks and efficient WiFi Chips for the IoT. They will also present this category and a few project possibilities.

Continental Automotive will also have a short presentation NFC development environment.

#Robots meetup

The foreseeable future will feature intelligent devices that will be able to see and sense object shapes or features, and distance or depth of them. If you had all this information today, what would you advise your robot to do autonomously?

Valentin Muresan will be telling us more about intelligent robots and about the category that Movidius is sponsoring. We live in a world of intelligent robots, drones and mobile phones/assistants. The technologies behind these products are heralded by a new wave of deep learning applications ported on mobile devices. The robotic and vision technologies behind these products will shift the applications of electronic devices to a more superior level of intelligence. Recent processor technologies make all this happen as we speak.

This two pre-events will be taking place on Tuesday, 10th of May, 7.00 pm. The place where it will happen is Timisoara Startup Hub.


#Design meetup

The design of a product is just as important as its features. Thus, designers are very important for us, HackTM people. We want to talk to you about the experience of participating at a hackathon and to share some advice learnt by our speakers.

Our creative partners, New Haircut, are going to be there and to have this short discussion with you, where you can also find the answer to your design related questions.

Ioana Iordan, Ileana Georgiu and Bogdan Negrescu, former HackTM participants, and members of New Haircut, will be the ones answering your questions.

This pre-event will be taking place on Thursday, 12th of May,7.00 pm. The place where it will happen is Alt Club.


#SmartCity meetup

Open data to change our city into a smart one. We challenge the developers to join Smart City track, so we can work together in finding and building smart software solutions that will improve people’s lives in big or small cities.

Marius Cristea and George Suveti from Irian will present you this category. Projects developed at the last editions of HackTM will be talked about and new ideas will be share for the participants who are really interested in this category, but don’t know what exactly they can do.

You will find out more about the mentors and about the resources available. At the end, if you still feel in the blur, you can ask a question that will also be answered.

#Education meetup

This is a launchpad for anybody with a passion for education to create revolutionary products that can redefine the education system. Our biggest goal is to inspire participants to solve the problems that plague our education system.

Diana Andone, Silviu Vert and Dan Bugariu will tell you more about the past projects and about the projects that you can develop as part of this category. It will be explained to you who are the mentors you can ask questions to and what are the resources available for you and your team.

This two pre-events will be taking place on Friday, 13th of May, 7:00 pm, at Timisoara Startup Hub.


#eHealth meetup

If you want to provide genuine, innovative tech solutions to solve global health issue, the eHealth track is dedicated to you. Ness Technologies will be waiting to show you a few ideas that you can implement at HackTM and to answer your questions.

#FinTech meetup

More than just a buzzword, FinTech is an umbrella term for software used by the financial sector. Whether it manages payments, trading, insurance, data analysis or security, FinTech software is on the rise. ACI Worldwide will be present at this meetup, as category partner. They will explain more about FinTech and will present a few project ideas.

#Open meetup

Is your idea impossible to classify and outside of every box? You don’t have to put it inside any box; you will be together with all the teams which are incredibly creative and innovative.

This three pre-events will be taking place on Monday, 16th of May, 7:00 pm, at Timisoara Startup Hub.
