A partnership to fight online harassment.

This school year, Hack Harassment and Major League Hacking are teaming up to combat online harassment. Throughout the upcoming season — spanning fall 2016 through spring 2017 — Hack Harassment will serve as the official Anti-Harassment Sponsor of student hackathons, including more than 175 events taking place throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada, and Europe.

As part of the partnership, each hackathon will have a #HackHarassment challenge, inviting the student hackers to develop technology solutions geared towards decreasing the prevalence and severity of online harassment. Hack Harassment will also be working with Major League Hacking to increase awareness and understanding of the issue among the thousands of participating students.

“Major League Hacking is thrilled to partner with Hack Harassment for the 2017 hackathon season,” Mike Swift, CEO of Major League Hacking. “As a certified B Corp with a mission to empower hackers, MLH is committed to eliminating online harassment in the student hacker community. Through our partnership with Hack Harassment, it is our ultimate goal to make student hackathons even more welcoming, inclusive, and safe spaces for any students who share a love for technology and innovation.”

“The Internet is fundamental to everyday life, shaping how we communicate and express ourselves,” said Danielle Brown, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer and VP, Human Resources, Intel Corporation. “To ensure that the Internet is a safe and inclusive space for all users, we need to do more to combat online harassment. Hack Harassment is excited to partner with Major League Hacking to support this mission, tapping into their immense network of student hackers to not only fight online harassment in the technology community but to help develop solutions that make the Internet a better place for all users.”
