I don’t think that would be a “nice workaround”. It would be a workaround, period. Of late I’ve seen too many posts pop up on Medium where people are requesting better interaction tools. Part of that I think is because Medium’s growing in the number of users and people visiting it, and then realizing even though Medium wants to be a network, it’s really not designed to be one. Yet. Interaction is just one aspect. There’s a hell of a lot more issues that they need to solve, but this seems to be the one on top.

I think the other reason people are so peeved is because there doesn’t seem to be any response from Medium (and frankly, where would they even post the response?). If the users knew that Medium was in fact listening to this feedback, that would put a lot of people’s minds at ease. As it stands right now, and given my Medium stats, it’s highly likely that just like this response, nobody’s actually seeing the feedback that’s being posted on Medium.
