Thank you, Elizabeth. I hear what you guys are saying about fair use and I am glad to know that your team examined the works in question and made a thoughtful decision. I really do appreciate the transparency of the Medium team and your willingness to dialogue with us.

While, I’m still really sad to lose such a strong and eloquent voice in our community, my hope is that together we can keep this place respectful and a place where people feel comfortable sharing deep parts of themselves. There’s been a lot of talk floating around about how to do that, and I think the burden falls on all of us as readers, writers, and editors to do that — not just you Medium folks. It’s a group effort and hopefully we are all up for the challenge.
