Be the change you want to see in the social media world

I believe human life without disciplines is equal to human life without water. And it’s only a matter of time to turn a life into chaos at any give incident. I can live my life without social media although it might be boring and inconvenient at some degree, but I can’t imagine my life without specific disciplines in the use of social media. It would be the fastest way to become a slave to a self-centered mind and isolate myself in my own small world.

My question to you is “Is it just related to social media?” What about eating without self-discipline? It causes obesity diabetes, etc. Furthermore, eating junk foods can lead to full-blown addiction. What about smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol? In conclusion humans are surrounded by so many tempting things which can be harmful ourselves and others rather than beneficial in case of misuse.

I thought of Gandhi’s famous quote:

“Be the change you want to see in the world.”

And I asked myself a question “What do I want to see in the social media world?” I could answer to myself with no hesitation. I hope that all people can share thoughts and have dialogue in good manners and disciplines to benefit one another rather than being trapped in self-centered mind. Daisaku Ikeda, a philosopher and an educator, said

“It is not how you compare to others that is important, but rather how you compare to who you were yesterday. If you’ve advanced even one step, then you’ve achieved something great.”

It’s clearly not about what others think about you, but you be the change you want to see in the world including social media world.

Social media focuses on humanistic values can be a great communication tool for humans. We must keep striving to become a true protagonist who create positive values in cyber world.
