The CBO has to call it straight, for the results come back as recent history if the bill passes. That is unlike the press elements which must be responsive to its funding source. Is it Advertising? Then it must be salacious and inflammatory to gain eyeballs and thus ratings. Is it subscription driven?then it best expose the truth for the citizens who pay. But whoa! The citizens are on strike. And the newpapers are dying. Why? Most of them get the majority of funds from advertisers. It would be useful for Senators to point out that Citizens need to fund the press. Otherwise we are mere customers… subjects. In Ben Franklin’s time the average countryman spent $1.50 a month, equavilent of today about $30 on the press. Today many expect it for free, and they recieve what they pay for.
Our truthfulness is a function of our culture, and if you want advertising to provide you with the truth in the age of click bait…. I have a bridge to sell you.
