We all have a talent and if you can turn that talent into a business then why not?

I still feel like a little bit of a farce when people label me as an ‘entrepreneur’, as in my mind an entrepreneur was always someone with a yacht in Puerto Banus or their very own private island, both of which I’m nowhere near to obtaining – yet. But even though financially I may not be quite there I’m starting to get my head around the fact that I am indeed an ‘entrepreneur’ and when I think of all the hard work, sleepless nights, worrying and pure exhaustion I’ve suffered on my quest for success then I’m pretty sure I’m worthy of the title.
My entrepreneurial journey started in 2010, I was a single mum with my then 2 year old daughter. I had just left my 8 year career as a flight attendant due to redundancy and was in quite a bad place. I didn’t know where my life was heading and I was still completely heartbroken from splitting with my daughters father the previous year.
My parents are both business owners and so were my grandparents so I think business has always been in my blood, I had just never realised it up until this point. My mother owned and still owns a successful hairdressing business and although I have never been hit with the hairdressing bug I had always had a love of beauty and makeup (probably from my years of having to look immaculate on longhaul flights and the hours I spent in duty free). Anyway, after hanging up my wings I decided to enrol on a beauty course and I decided I would set up my own beauty business within my mothers salon. The business ballooned and although it was tough with very long hours along with an aching back at the end of each day this happened to be the best decision I ever made as this gave me the confidence to set the ball rolling for all my next ventures.
Without going into too much detail on my other ventures as I’ll save them for another story on another day, the main point I’m trying to make with this blog is that each of us has a talent and something we all love to do and it really is possible to turn those talents and passions into a business venture. I was interested in makeup and beauty so I turned it into a business, I was interested in dance and fitness, I got trained and turned it into a business, I love hula hooping so I now make money from teaching others to do it! I’ve found immense happiness in being in control of my own life, I have no boss to answer to and work is my hobby because I’ve turned my hobbies into my work. It really is that simple. You just need to start and believe you can make it work. If I can do it with three children under the age of 8, absolutely no start up capital and minimal support then please believe me that you can do it too. I will be blogging again soon and going into more detail about how you can take the first steps to create the life you want and deserve. All it takes is a decision to start and you’re half way there!
