TAIWAN TRIP — DAY 2

SO HERE WE GO, WE ARE AT DAY 2!

Before making our way to Danshui (淡水), we had 滷肉饭 (YJ’s favourite) for bfast at around 11:30AM. Because me and SM couldn’t eat rice for bfast… we bought a small bowl and shared HAHAHA. It was priced at 20/25 TWD? Which means it costs approx $0.50 SGD!

Affordable and NICE 的滷肉饭

Because it was a pretty long ride (approx 30 mins) from XMD to Danshui. We played Psych! on the train, and it was really fun. We were all laughing (loudly) at the answers HAHAHA. Reached Danshui station at approx 12:15PM. And we bought bubble tea at the original KOI shop before taking the bus to Danshui’s 渔人码头 (Fishermen Wharf). The wind at the station was really strong and it was really really really cold, we were all freezing.

Original name for KOI in Taiwan is called 50岚! But due to marketing strategies, they didn't bring the original name to SG but changed it to KOI instead.

After asking the person at the information counter, we finally manage to find out which bus we should take to the fishermen wharf. The bus ride was pretty short and we reached! I need to re-emphasise, the strong wind were smacking our face real hard and it was really cold! But! the view was captivating and we all just went “wow”

Pictures speak a thousand words, they say. So let the pictures do the talking.
Danshui’s Fishermen Wharf
The birds were flying in circles for 10 minutes and they were so near to us. Had to take a picture

So we spent most of our afternoon there at the fishermen wharf. We took a lot of pictures, and went to the souvenir shops to look around. Bought a keychain from my brother’s favourite anime for him, and we decided to play at their mini arcarde — basketball and….. there’s me playing the kids ride.

We went to another souvenir shop to buy food…. as souvenirs! We bought nougats and of course, we couldn’t miss their 铁蛋!!! Happy kids.

We look pretty serious here, idk why.

We took the bus and left the fishermen wharf at approximately 5PM? We decided to visit danshui lao jie (淡水老街) It’s like a night market, and they sell a lot of 铁蛋 too, around the same price actl. HAHA. They sell a lot of fooddddddddd.

淡水老街!

Because we didn't eat lunch, we were so hungry and I bought takoyaki that I have been craving ever since.... the previous day HAHAHA. It was really nice, better than SG's one. idk why too. It was like 6:30PM when we finished walking the lao jie, so we decided to.... go to 诚品书店 to get books for Jasmine and ourselves.

诚品书店 is quite well-known, not only in Taiwan but in Asia too. They have outlets in China and Hong Kong as well. 诚品书店 is different as compared to Popular, in terms of the ambience. When I always enter Popular, it was always very noisy and kids are screaming everywhere sometimes. On the other hand, when we first entered 诚品书店, it was really different. REALLY. Everybody was quiet, browsing the books and etc. It was just peace.

I had a hard time finding the books that Jasmine requested and have to ask the staff there. The bookstore had like 3–4 levels, and 1 level is really really really big. What’s surprising is… when I asked for the author’s name, the staff immediately know where it is. Wow.

And then, the problem kicks in. One of the books that Jasmine requested wasn’t available. So I had to call her, to ask if there are any other books that she wants. Since I’m here in Taiwan, I might as well just utilise and buy more since its cheaper in Taiwan, and much…. original right.(if you know what i mean) I called her phone, she didn’t pick up. And I have to go around asking for her home number. AND FINALLY, I managed to call her and finally asked what she wants. I was just speaking at my normal tone, but I realised that we were loud… BECAUSE THE BOOKSTORE WAS REALLY QUIET.

At the end of the day, I bought a book for myself as well as for my brother and my cousin in China who is studying Spanish. YJ and Kenzo bought a book for themselves as well.

After shopping in the bookstore, we went to a nearby night market. It was stated that its nearby, but we walked for 30–45 minutes, and we werent there yet?! It was raining as well… so yeah HAHA we finished walking around the night market at approx 10:45PM and decided to cab back to our residence building. Because we were lazy and it was late.

Night market (I forgot which one it was)

So, i bought cheese baked potato back as well as yakult. While, the guys bought maggie back again for supper, and SM ate her biscuits and drank ovaltine.

I think we slept at 2AM plus… The day was a bit short because we woke up late. So we decided to wake up earlier for the subsequent days to improve productivity and efficiency 有没有 HAHAHA
