… those around him appear overly cozy with Moscow. It is appropriate that Congress investigate both. If President Trump is correct that it is all “fake news,” the White House should welcome the opportunity.

Today’s CNN story that “the FBI rejected a recent White House request to publicly knock down media reports about communications between Donald Trump’s associates and Russians known to US intelligence” indicates, to me, a genuine fear within the administration. This breaches protocols. The White House is not supposed to interfere with the independence of law enforcement.
