A god from Olympus, who has talent in many things (music, war, etc) and handsome, must went down to the earth as a consequence from his done. In his journey, Apollo (the god) had to incarnate as a teenage boy without his power, called Lester Papadopoulos. His first day on earth was began on the trash where was one corner of the New York City.For get back his power and come back to Olympus, Apollo must be servant from a young demigod, Meg McCarty. Together, they had to through the hard way and challenging. The place where they thought as a savety place apparently was in danger and finally, Apollo must fixed his task first before he come back to Olympus, even though without his god power.
Overall, Rick Riordan was tremendous enough to describe the character, especially for Apollo. He was a god and became human was described completely and detail with many feeling. Every character was risen well with develop of story plot, so it could not amazed if in this adventure story, the reader would find many surprise.
The outline, the theme was created in this story about friendship, loyalty, and thrust. It can be seen clearly when Apollo and Meg must fighted together to release others demigod who has missed mysteriously. Their credibility and friendship has to be tested. At the end, it made painful and lose but they showed responsibility to take care each others.
Like I said before, this story had a lot of surprise. The author had his own way to make every pages in this story more attractive with many problem. Despite of the main pont in this story not gone.
This is not the first time Rick Riordan made a fantasy story about god of Yunani, so the intellectual quality in this story was not hesitated. The author carried out a lot of research to ascend it. Even at the end in this novel, Rick Riordan gave a list of Apollo’s Word. Humor and other emotion of the characters were said well. This story used a first person sight so that it was not enough dialog happen but it most effective.
New York city and a forest became an important background in this story. The presence of secret camp at the forest added strong impression that the forest was a haunt. Every place in this story showed different atmosphere. When I red a part Apollo and Meg had to rain in the forest, cool and tired condition could be felt because the describing was easy understand.
This is the first time I red a fantasy story. Even though the story impressed childish but I still love it. I have friends and love them, as like as Apollo love Meg. Although I have never been disappointed and left with my friends, but I clearly understood how Apollo’s feel. In this story, the reader could clearly feel all the element especially the emotion of Apollo. This story also could not say simple but interesting enough to read.
I recommended this book for everyone who love a fantasy story.
