What’s the difference between critiquing someone’s faith in a god and their faith in a flat earth, leprechauns, the moon being made of cheese?

You claim it is distasteful because it’s a highly personal belief. But that doesn’t add weight to it. Faith is not a virtue. That was made up by people of faith.

Perhaps if less people respect people’s beliefs simply because they are “emotional”, we’d have less terrible beliefs. Your god, if they did exist, are a terrible being. I can say that objectively. It has nothing to do with your flavor of belief.
