50
26
Fifty could be the number of that underground ship that graces its presence to the diver that circles the bow and comes upon that number 50 feet under the oceans surface. Or maybe 50 is that number that a checkout machine rings out and the person behind the counter yells out the amount. 50 could even be the number that a child counts up to before going to find his friends. Whatever the meaning on this day in April 26 was more important. There was the number etched in the sidewalk on side street seemingly having the least importance and yet it was so important that the man smiled at its appearance. It was for 50 years that he had searched for this spot and the answer he realized could only come about because of this number. It all made sense now. 50 years of searching and now he could laugh. He reached down with his hand and felt the number with his fingers just to make sure it was real and this was a moment in reality. He then stood up and walked away.
