Appellate arguments over a lawsuit brought by Planned Parenthood challenging South Carolina’s pro-life heartbeat law have been pushed to the last week in January 2022, according to an order from the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals located in Richmond, Virginia. The law, that is currently not in effect, restricts abortion in the state after a heart begins to beat around six weeks into a persons pregnancy. The law does include exceptions if the pregnacey is caused by rape or insest, or if the life of the mother is at risk.
