What is Braille?
What is braille? How does it work and what is it important? Let’s find out.
Let me introduce myself first, I’m Hayley, and I was born with Wagner Syndrome, an extremely rare eye condition that affects around 20 families in the world, although this stat is most likely outdated.
My mum, my brother, and 10 others members of my family have Wagner Syndrome, with varying degrees of sight loss. My mum is totally blind and has been able to read braille since she was five years old.
I recently decided to teach myself braille again, I had vaguely learned it when I was around 11 years old, but almost 30 years later, it was like starting all over again, except I think it must’ve been hidden in brain somewhere because I picked it up very quickly! I loved working with braille so much, I even set up an online business selling braille products! Now I spend my days typing braille, talking about braille and thinking of ideas how to make people more aware of braille.
