Alcohol + Anxiety + Sleep

Unfortunately, alcohol and stress seem to go together like two peas in a pod. It’s no surprise that so many high powered lawyers are functioning alcoholics. They’re not the only ones and we’re not signaling them out.

Alcohol is a depressant, but there’s a reason you feel so much more stressed and anxious the next morning (and may even turn to alcohol — again!).

Alcohol destroys your sleep cycle. As the alcohol is digested, your sugar levels spike and your REM cycle is hindered. That means you don’t ever go into a deep sleep. It’s a light and crappy sleep.

The more tired you are, the more anxious you are. So, it’s pretty simple. Want to feel less anxious and stressed? Watch your alcohol in take.
