Trust me, I’d have missed you, Shari, a lot. If I had been dense enough to follow through with that idiocy of walking away from one of the few places I truly feel at home, I’d have just been back with my tail between my legs after a few days.

By the way, there are 3 situations where I’m quite confident:

  • Writing when I can pick my words carefully and feel genuinely inspired (basically any time as I so much as think about this woman).
  • Kissing.
  • In the bedroom with someone I trust and care deeply for who feels more or less the same.

Otherwise, not so much at all. If self-doubt was currency I’d be Bill Gates.
