The arguments I used to have with my dad about racism, sexism, politics, in short, EVERYTHING. He was a lovely man but grew up in a different world. He believed in fairness and tolerance, but would always argue the opposite with me. I’m so glad he did because that also turned me into a tolerant lefty. I think he was too, deep down…but he still loved Thatcher…so he wasn’t perfect.
