Thank you for your well-argued and well written discussion of sex differences and the google memo. I agree with most of what you said, and while I was familiar with some of the research you cite, a lot was new to me: thanks for the new information, also.

The funny thing is, however, is that I still have the same opinion of the damore memo: that he was doing a reasonably good job of reflecting current science (apart from the Evo Psych stuff, which is often rubbishy), and that he had useful points to make about improving diversity (make jobs more attractive to people with different interests and needs). I still don’t see why firing him was morally right (obviously it was the right signal for google to make, faced with investigation for sex discrimination).

As to the para I selected: one of damore’s points was that males cannot take part in the initiatives designed to help women in leadership: they are only open to women. That was one of his problems with googles approach to diversity. I don’t know if you have experience of being formally and explicitly excluded from some helpful service because of your gender (maybe you don’t, and that’s why you missed this); but it certainly does happen to men (at least, it’s happened to me more than once, and I’m a man).
