Get Your Business Into the Halloween Spirit
October is a month of so many pleasantries. As leaves outside your office begin to change, the smell of pumpkin spice lattes waft through the air. Business attire transitions from shirts and blouses to sweaters and scarves. It’s the beginning of Q4, so small business owners are finalizing year-end reports and busy preparing for bigger and better things in 2017.
Halloween, a traditional theme of October, is also a particularly good time to grow your business. The holiday is big business, literally. The National Retail Federation estimates that Halloween spending will reach $8.4 billion, its highest in U.S. history.
Send out greeting cards
You wouldn’t think that Halloween is a greeting card holiday, but it sure is. Halloween is ranked sixth on Hallmark’s list of greeting card holidays, just under Easter. It’s estimated that this Halloween will bring in nearly $390 million in greeting card sales.
Take advantage of the Halloween spirit and send your clients and customers a greeting card. You can include new product updates, highlight services or just see if they need anything. The personal touch will win you points on customer service and creativity.
Give away Trick-or-Treat bags
Everyone loves free swag. Halloween is the perfect time to send your customers little goodie bags full of anything from candy to wearables to paperweights. You can order trick-or-treat bags with your company logo prominently displayed. Fill them with sweet treats and/or useful items and you’ll find that your customers are super nostalgic about their trick-or-treating childhoods.
Planning to call on a customer soon or need to schedule a meeting? Send your customer an empty trick-or-treat bag and invite them to “Trick-or-Treat the Office.” It’s a clever way to schedule a meeting, prospect a new client or introduce them to office employees.
Bags of Halloween goodies are also great moral boosts around the office. Check out our recommendations for cool swag that you can use in Halloween bags.
Throw a Halloween party
Nothing satisfies customers like making them feel like they are elite. Throwing an annual invite-only Halloween party is the perfect way to make customers feel like you appreciate their business. Go all out — hire caterers that specialize in ghoulish recipes, decorate your office or venue. You can even transform your office into a haunted house. Encourage employees and customers to dress up. Award prizes for the best costume, most clever, etc. Everyone will have a great time and they’ll have you to thank for it.
