We hear you
Let’s start by answering some common questions from social media.
Getting in touch
It seems that a lot of people are having trouble getting in touch with Hema.
You can give us a call on 07 3340 0000 anytime between 9am-4pm Monday to Friday (Brisbane time). You could also look for online help here: http://kb.hemamaps.com/, or just submit a ticket: http://hema.helpserve.com/.
“Where is the Hema Navigator HX-1 support”?
The complete user guide for the HX-1 is online here: http://help.hema-labs.com/HX-1_Guide. Or, as usual, you can contact us at the number above.
“Your HX-1's hardware is from the stone age”
Well, if we tried to make a tablet computer to compete with the Nexus 7, we would have used different hardware. But we made a dedicated navigation and mapping device. The hardware we chose for this product is actually quite appropriate for what it is used for.
“The Explorer app on Android has problems”
These include offline use of maps, crashing while downloading, cannot delete anything, repeated downloads.
Yes, we hear you. We are working to get this fixed as soon as possible. Please keep an eye out for our updates.
“What are the differences between the HX-1 Explore app and the Play Store’s Explorer app?”
The HX-1 app started life as the normal Explorer app, but there are some fundamental architectural differences between these apps, so we spent a lot of effort on the HX-1 app. This has paid off, as we now have a very stable app on the HX-1. As explained in the previous answer, we just started doing the same for the normal Explorer app.
So in summary: in time these will be very similar, the main differences are (and will still be) that the Hema Maps are preloaded on the HX-1 up to zoom level 12, with all the other zoom levels available for free download, while in the normal app you have to download the maps before you can use them, and higher than zoom level 12 is part of the subscription package.
