We all read this article from our individual perspectives. It is interesting, as I browse through the comments related to your blog, how many people interpret your comments as a defense or excuse for Uber. I do not see that at all. Rather, I see your comments as a warning call that this is happening everywhere — not just at Uber — and we all need to do our piece to make change happen.

Research has concluded that this is a systematic problem (see NCWIT.org). While punishing people is an immediate and appropriate response, it is not the long-term solution to the problem.

I am amazed at the responses to your blog that criticize women and our desire to be recognized and treated as peers. This criticism further demonstrates the issues we face.
