Captain America Is Kicking Major Butt in the Box Office with Civil War

Just to give you an update on the current box office results on the movie:
Captain America: Civil War brought in $25 million from Thursday night previews, which brings it to the tenth largest Thursday night opening of all-time. This opening is just behind Avengers: Age of Ultron’s $27.6 million and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s $27.7 million. Both of those films went on to gross over $80 million on Friday. The question whether Civil War will top $200 million for the opening weekend depends on movie-goers’ response and how well it ultimately plays on Saturday and Sunday. In addition, updated international figures for Civil War posted a total of $291.2 million, excluding early reports from China, which early numbers indicate a $30.6 million opening day.
My quick take on the movie:
Without ruining anything for anybody who has not watched the movie, I’d say the movie is pretty darn awesome. Definitely go watch it. This film is a huge improvement from Age of Ultron. The pacing is on-point — not a bunch of action scenes mashed up together. The story makes sense and, for the most part, everything seems cohesive. I like how they introduce the Black Panther and Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and we can definitely expect more from the two characters. Additionally, the movie is definitely better than Batman v Superman. There is actually a conclusion to the Captain America v Iron Man feud. Their parents do not have the same name, “Martha”. Civil War adopts more of a serious “spy’ish” tone, similar to that of Winter Soldier, with a sprinkling of humor here and there. Plus, there are two cut-scenes in the end credits, so stay seated after the main feature is over. And, oh yea…Elizabeth Olsen and Scarlett Johansson both provide great eye candy for the male spectators. All-in-all, I’d say a 9.0 out of a 10-point scale.
