Should College Athletes Be Paid

Usually when I think of college athletes I think of star football players, or basketball plyers, but I don’t ever think of any other sport. For this reason I do not believe that college athletes should be paid. If only some players in certain sports got paid then that would just become a huge issue in the NCAA. For example, college football is a billion dollar organization, but what about cross country, or track. Yes, maybe certain players could be paid in football or basketball, but there isn’t enough money in those smaller sports like track for players to get paid. This brings me to my next point. Although college athletes should not be paid, I still think that they should be able to sign contracts with companies like Nike, or Adidas. I also think that people should be able to buy things for them, or that they should be able to sign an autograph in exchange for something they want. If a college athlete is good enough to be sponsored by a company like Nike, then I think that is their choice to do that. If a college athlete is known well enough that people want autographs from them, or people want to buy them things, then I think that the athletes should be able to sign these autographs, or accept those things offered by fans. Overall, there could be many different views from people, but I personally am more in the middle. College athletes should not be paid, but they should be able to sign contracts, or autograph in exchange for other things.
