How do you legislate against that? Once you start getting the government involved in controlling the words of the public, it sets a very dangerous precedent. One that would see some benefit from while others would be on the receiving end.

I think we’re on the right track in the west. Economic prosperity, freedom of time and abundance of choices mean that most of the criminal and anti-social elements of society are effectively marginalised. This is why we seek to socialise our children. Sure it squeezes out some of their originality but that can be mitigated with other training, creativity and critical thinking etc.

And how do we combat lies anyway? By encouraging a culture that truly values reason and evidence. By using better, more reasoned arguments.
