Ideology and indoctrination is scary. One of the things I’m teaching my boys is critical thinking and philosophy. They key for me is to give them a sense of themselves that is separate from the tribe. Not to isolate them necessarily but to anchor their confidence in themselves and their ability to solve problems and perceive clearly. To encourage them to ask questions and pursue ideas without fear. It’s so interesting to me the level of self-censorship that goes on inside people’s own minds. You can tell because of the way people respond to controversial ideas or questions.

We must at least give ourselves the freedom to explore different ways of thinking in our private world. This then becomes a kind of security that cannot be shaken by the uncertainty of the world.

Glad that this connected with you and may we find our own hero inside to help guide our children to better happiness in life!
