Sowell’s words are very relevant here. I often wonder if Obama even read his work as he seemed to show very little awareness of his own left-leaning ‘progressivism’. It crept up on my I have to say. He (Obama) came across initially as a very reasonable man. But that is the terrifying thing about ideology. It takes the most intelligent, powerful people and makes them vulnerable to their own BS. And now even after this massive loss, rather than doing what any reasonable individual would do, i.e. lick their wounds and ask ‘what the hell went wrong?’ they’ve done the total opposite. This shows you how tribalism makes groups of people stupid. And the media, the group of people we most need to be responsible and open to self-reflection is at the moment at least, just fanning the flames. It’s not a good combination and add to that Trumps disturbing erratic behaviour and it makes for a potentially untenable outcome. We can only hope that reason will prevail somehow??
