The only useful quality of centrism that I can see is that it allows you to assess each issue on its own merits rather than along tribal lines. As long as we view everything through a political lens the pendulum will swing us all from one side to the other. Like it or not Trump brings balance to the force in that he speaks openly about things that the ‘other side’ were either afraid or unprepared to deal with openly. Their brand of ideology would not allow an open conversation. As crazy as he sounds he speaks reasonably on certain things that Obama simply failed to address. Only by explicitly dealing with those failings can your ‘team’ expect to regain any kind of political influence. Instead of protesting you should be celebrating the fact that the democracy is working and instead use introspection to directly address the things they failed to give voice to. I used to believe that the left was always right. But now I see that the right is just as valid. They need each other in order to work in harmony. That’s not centrism though, it’s called being reasonable.
