What you’re describing is the horseshoe theory. i.s. The idea that both sides of politics when take to extremes bend around and become close enough to the same thing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horseshoe_theory

It is worrisome seeing otherwise reasonable people being entranced by the whole tribal mindset and jumping on the bandwagon of belief and dogma. I think it offers quick fix security but is far more transitory than the results of reason and more mature deliberation.
