Don’t miss your chance to be a Hillary for Michigan fellow!

The Hillary for America Fall Fellowship program launched this week! You can apply to be a Hillary for Michigan fellow — where you’ll play a critical role to engage supporters, organizer our communities, and help elect Hillary Clinton. Two of Hillary for Michigan’s wonderful organizers are here to tell you how they got their start as fellows.

Meet Cody:

Introduce yourself!

I am a political junky who went down the business path in college and now back in politics. I started as a Fellow and then was asked to be a full-time organizer during the Indiana primary. I am very grateful for everyone who believed in me then because being a fellow helped lay the foundation for me to succeed in my career today.

What advice do you have for anyone who’s on the fence about applying to be a fellow?

Do not hesitate! If you have a strong desire to make a difference in someone’s life on a small or large scale and are passionate about working hard to elect Democrats, then this is something you should pursue immediately. This program is structured, rewarding, and FUN. Keep an open mind!

Anything else?

As I shared earlier — if you truly want to make a change, see that change happening before your eyes, and are willing to meet new and exciting faces every day, then apply to be a fellow in Michigan. I am a better person for this program and have changed lives for the better because I took a leap, worked hard, was flexible, and had FUN.

Meet Nate:

Introduce yourself! How did you get involved in the fellows program?

My name is Nathan Catey. I am a senior at Oakland University studying Political Science and Journalism. I first became a fellow with Organizing for Action in Spring 2014. I began making phone calls to people throughout the Detroit metro area recruiting them for events and and making sure people knew about the Affordable Care Act! Then I became the digital lead for the state of Michigan where I managed the OFA-Michigan Twitter and Facebook accounts and trained OFA fellows and staff on social media strategies.

What advice do you have for anyone who’s on the fence about applying to be a fellow?

Being a fellow changed my life. I was no longer a “spectator” — instead I devoted my time to taking action in my community. It feels good working with other passionate people and encouraging people to get involved with you. The best part about becoming a fellow is hearing the stories you hear from people in your community.

Anything else?

Two years into my fellowship I was invited to meet President Obama at the OFA Washington D.C. Summit for a meeting and dinner! I chatted with President Obama and listened to him give a speech at a working dinner. The experiences and opportunities are endless!
If you were inspired by what you heard and believe that together #MISheCan, apply to be a Fall Fellow. Follow this link to take the next steps. Applications close August 26th. We can’t wait to see you on the ground!
