Women Business Leaders Highlight Hillary Clinton’s 100-Day Jobs Plan to Create Jobs and Support Small Businesses in Florida

Tampa area businesswomen gathered to discuss Hillary Clinton’s 100-Day Jobs Plan and its impact on Florida’s economy, local small businesses, and their lives as small business owners. Check out the full discussion here.

Participants in the roundtable included former CFO for the state of Florida Alex Sink (who also served as the event moderator); Dr. Erika Bethune, owner of Hands 4 Healing Chiropractic; Maryann Ferenc, owner of Mise en Place restaurant; Amy Mandel, owner of Naturally Green Products, LLC; Angelique Mathena, Vice President at Muller Group International; and Miriam Garces Leyva, owner of Chateau de M Salon.

“We are stronger together, and there is no better message to explain why we need Hillary Clinton as our next president,” said Sink. “We need a president who encourages us to work collectively to move our economy forward, so that everyone — not just those at the top — can be successful and earn a good wage.”

Hillary’s plan includes passing the largest investment in job creation since World War II, investing in infrastructure, making America the clean energy superpower of the 21st century and supporting innovation so that small businesses can grow. Her vision stands in stark contrast to Donald Trump’s economic policies, which would devastate Florida working families and, according to a former McCain economic advisor, under Clinton the economy would create 10.4 million jobs, while under Trump, the economy would lose 3.4 million jobs.

“Florida’s number one industry is tourism and infrastructure can be a tremendous barrier to the growth of tourism across the state,” explained restaurateur Ferenc. “Investing in infrastructure is not only critical to helping this industry grow, which will have a positive effect on our economy, but it will also create immediate, good-paying jobs that employ everybody, regardless of background or education level.”

“I’ve been a business owner for 10 years and I employ eight people locally. When I was starting out, it was difficult to manage the business while also securing the necessary funding that would help, and sometimes the bureaucracy you encounter is discouraging,” added Garces Leyva. I love that Hillary Clinton’s jobs plan outlines how we will cut through the red tape because many business owners face that challenge.”

“Better access to capital is a key aspect that would help my business — and other small businesses in Florida — grow. I’d be able to see more patients, hire more employees and ultimately offer more care to my community,” said Dr. Bethune. “I believe Hillary Clinton’s plan will make a difference for small business owners around the country and right here in Tampa.”

As Mathena commented, “Clinton’s plan is vital to our local economy and creating more jobs in Florida…her incentives will empower small business owners to take more risks and it was inspiring to hear from female entrepreneurs today about how this plan will impact their businesses and their lives.”

“One of my concerns as a green business owner is our investments in clean energy. It’s amazing how much sunshine we have in Florida, yet we’re not utilizing it to be a leader in solar power energy,” noted Mandel. “Hillary Clinton is the only capable candidate who has proven time and again that when she sets her mind to something, she gets it done.”
